When I registered NewsGrange.com in 2008, it was just one of those impulsive domain purchases I tend to make (DishwasherOnMars.com anyone?). After leaving ReadWriteWeb in January, though, I was in need for a news-oriented domain and ended up recycling it for my main blog. Sadly, due to a trademark dispute, I now had to change the name. So, without further ado, welcome to SiliconFilter.com.
Finding a good domain name has become incredibly hard now that virtually all good names are gone. In the end, I was lucky to find this new one and I think it reflects my attitude towards tech blogging: filtering out the hype in order to write about the cool stuff that my readers can actually benefit from.
Just a New Name (and Facebook Group)
I obviously have some big plans for this site for the future, but for now, the only thing that’s really changing is the name.
If you subscribed to the old RSS feed, things should continue to work as usual. If you were subscribed to the @NewsGrange twitter feed, nothing changes either (Twitter makes changing names easy). Links to NewsGrange will automatically redirect to the appropriate posts here for at least another 90 days.
If you’re a fan of the NewsGrange Facebook group, however, I would appreciate it if you ‘liked’ the new SiliconFilter group (box is to the right of this post!).
Thanks to all of you who read my posts on NewsGrange (and shared them on Twitter, Facebook and Co.), my first five months of solo-blogging were far more successful than I ever expected. Thank you for that and I’m looking forward to seeing you around here!
